NY to Close Inactive Online Services Accounts

Effective in November 2025, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will inactivate Online Services accounts for taxpayers who have not used their account within the past 3 years.

However, the State indicated that this will not affect practitioner Online Services account access for such taxpayers, so even if the client’s own Online Services account is closed, due to inactivity, a practitioner with authorization and access to that client’s information through the practitioner’s owner Online Services account will still be able to access information for that client.
